plastic corporation

Main features of our plastic corporation

Currently, plastic has managed to conquer the market, thanks to its quality, price, and versatility, becoming an important component in the container and packaging industry. One of the advantages of this material within the industry is the alternative it offers in terms of packaging design and customization. Plastic is a very versatile and adaptable material that can help reduce costs and facilitate innovative development for any industry.

Plastimex is a plastic corporation that specializes in the production of containers with 2 different types of materials such as PET and HDPE. Always seeking to maintain a high-quality standard, which is why our machinery and staff are constantly updated to offer the best containers and lids for your product.

How are containers made in a plastic corporation?

Plastic containers can be made using four different techniques: injection molding, injection stretch blow molding, extrusion, and extrusion-blow molding. The injection molding technique is where materials such as synthetic resins are subjected to very high temperatures and melted to inject the plastic into a mold and create the desired shape. With this technique, caps and containers can be manufactured continuously and quickly.

The Injection Stretch Blow Moulding technique is used for the mass production of hollow plastic pieces. In this process, the polymer is injected into an initial preform. Subsequently, the preform is placed in a blow molding station to be inflated and finally cooled. In the case of the extrusion technique, it is an industrial process that is used to melt and mold the plastic at a constant flow of pressure and force, to obtain the desired shape of the container.

Finally, the extrusion-blow technique is a manufacturing process where polymers are melted and extruded into a hollow tube, known as a parison. It is then closed in a cold metal mold, where the air is blown to form the part and expel it.

Prevalent materials

1. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)

Better known as PET by its name in English (polyethylene terephthalate), it is one of the most used materials to make plastic containers and bottles. This material is characterized by being crystalline, light, flexible, and very resistant. It is a linear polymer that can be processed in different ways for a large number of uses due to its multiple qualities.

2. High-density polyethylene (HDPE)

It is a thermoplastic polymer. This type of material is obtained by addition, this means that different ethylene units are added to its composition. Rigidity and resistance are its main advantages. Heavily resistant to impacts, traction, and different temperatures. HDPE offers different industries the ease of printing, painting, and gluing on it, which eases the customization of products.
